As with any of the various liposuction Dallas methods, tumescent liposuction is designed to eliminate difficult to remove fatty deposits. As with the other liposuction methods, it is very important for potential liposculpture candidates to understand that this procedure should not be used to remove a few vanity pounds. If it is feasible for someone to remove the fat deposits via an exercise regimen and proper nutrition, they should follow this path instead of opting for cosmetic surgery.

With that said, tumescent liposuction is a proven surgery procedure where a cosmetic surgeon injects a large volume of a diluted local anesthesia solution into the patient’s fat beneath the skin. This solution consists two medications, which are usually lidocaine and epinephrine. The plastic surgeon uses the epinephrine to cause the patient’s capillaries to shrink, which results in significantly less blood loss compared to the more traditional liposuction methods. The second medicine, lidocaine, is used a local anesthetic. The use of lidocaine prevents the need for general anesthesia.

Once the anesthesia solution has been administered, the Dallas liposuction plastic surgeon is able to remove fat deposits being using micro cannulas. By using tumescent liposuction, the doctor is able to create a more contoured look, when compared to the more traditional methods of liposuction.

There are two main benefits of using the tumescent liposuction method in Dallas and Fort Worth. First, there is significantly less brewing and swelling. This is due to the minimal blood loss and large amount of post operative drainage.

The second benefit of this plastic surgery procedure is the ability to avoid general anesthesia, resulting in a quicker recovery time. Additionally, as this is an outpatient procedure, there is no need to stay overnight at the hospital, which obviously reduces the overall cost for this procedure.

Once the patient’s tumescent liposuction is finished, they will retain some amount of the local anesthesia in their body for at least a day.
